How much does an architect earns a year?

I want to be an architect but i want to know how much do they get paid? I would like to get paid at least 80,000 a year. I want to design building like the empire state building not houses. and what kind of degree should i get? and what are some of the best colleges because I'm planning to transfer to Cal Poly.
